Biography
The past is not really needed to be someone right now, right here. Surely I have one, just like anyone else. It’s just that I don’t pay much attention to a past that I barely can remember, I want to pay my full attention to right now and dream about tomorrow …
I think that I was abandoned by my parents as an mere egg, so I never even met them. Sad, ey? No, not really, I don’t mind it … After all, I never knew them. Thus I cannot hate them - I don’t really see the problem with it.
Nathaniel was the one who found my egg …And his family took care of me and made sure that I would survive. Surely, I’m a lad, who wants to take care of himself. Because I’ll grow up and become a great Rune dragon someday! So I didn’t really live at home with them; I lived in the forest close by after a while when Nath’iel said I could do it. They were all very kind towards me and I guess that I owe them my life somewhat.
And well, by living with a human as ... Err … Half-father … Or whatever ... Made me quite strait forward with them. I’m not really shy nor do I stay away from humans. I quite like them in fact, especially those who are Rune bearers and thus respect us. But others are fine as well, of course.
There’s not really all that much to say about my past ... I’m not as interesting as some may think when they meet me … But hey, just because I don’t have an “oh so heart-breaking story” or days that are worth mention doesn’t mean that it’s bad, right? And no, of course I don't carry any ill bearing towards those who has a heart-breaking past. One of my best friends is one of those unfortunate ones, and him I deem as my big brother these days!
It’s just that my past is too awesome for me to remember it day in and day out. Besides … I am still a kid, I don’t have much of a past! Bah.
May I go now? I want to do some tricks on some children over there … And there’s some Runes too, perhaps I can make some new friends.

Personality
Fun seeker | Trickster | Prankster | Curious | Impulsive | Confident
Nilaihah is the lad who can’t imagine a day without having a whole lot of fun. He hates the days when he’s bored and has nothing to do during.
Due to his appearance some may think that Nilaihah is a small version of one of Hell’s demons, but looks can be deceiving – as they say. Nilaihah is in fact very kind to others, he wouldn’t dream about doing something that may hurt others badly even though his tricks can be a bit “too much” sometimes. He’s quite the blabber mouth, so it’s easy to get to know him when you actually dare to stay close enough. Talk about anything and nothing at the same time; it’s his speciality.
Nilaihah is quite the curious lad, he always wants to know who others are, always wants to know why others do things he himself never tried to do before, always wants to know what things he never has seen before are and always wants to know why certain things happens. Well, the list could probably go on forever if that’s even possible. He simply wants to know everything about everyone and everything. Don’t be surprised if he starts asking you questions similar to “Why’s that?” or “How does that thing work?” if you just told him something that he deems interesting.
When Nilaihah is in the mode to be the little prankster that he truly enjoys to be, he also turns into quite the opinionated lad. He won’t give in on his beliefs no matter what someone else tries to do towards him. And at the same time he also turns into quite the impulsive lad. It’s rarely he thinks things through before he acts, but somehow the results as good as never turns out to be too bad. He’s quite the mastermind when it comes to his tricks towards others and they turn out according to plan as good as always (surely he can fail too, and if his tricks end up hurting someone he immediately tries to make things up for the one who was hurt).
He deems himself as brave and this because he has no trouble at all standing up for himself and to help a friend that’s in trouble. Friend’s are like treasures to him after all, so he would do just about anything to protect that treasure.
Lastly that confidence of his should be mentioned at least once. He's quite the character on that part, he's strait forward and right to the point with most things; and he ain't afraid to boost up when someone gives him a compliment. He believes he's quite great, maybe not the best, but still, enough to make him believe in himself at all times. So ... Don't get him started when it comes to himself, that's just a fair warning. And his straight forward-nature usually makes him the un-appointed leader of the group who takes the lead. He's kind of the leader type to be fair and he has a talent for leading other even when he himself doesn't realize it.

The future and the past views
Nilai doesn't dwell in the past or meddle in dreams of the future. Surely has dreams he lives for to accomplish, but his main goal each and every day is simply to enjoy the present as much as he can. He may not be old, yet he has grasped the concept of not taking his life for granted. Partly since he has his best friend who died too young (before they knew each other) and partly because he has far too many things on his mind to be able to stay still and think about things too deeply.
Philosophy on life and death
There's no end. He's quite sure of it. Since his best friend is a spirit; though quite like Sahariel he knows that he never will become since he's not unhappy nor unfulfilled in his life. Yet he know he will not want to "live" forever such as Sahariel will do, in fear of loosing all his friends.
However, he knows that there's something else after this life. He can sense them, speak to them and make them join him in his pranks. The paranormal beings of this world are quite real, and those are the ones he is certain of that he will join - once his life comes to an end.

Quirks
♦ Nilai is obsessed with collecting all kinds of bones just like any other Bone Gobbler is. Though, he doesn’t just collect them for the sake of collecting something or eating them (he would never eat bones from his very special part of his beloved collection!). You could say that he uses his bones as toys and plushies (he enjoys cuddling up in his nest with them and pretend that they’re alive). Often you will find him in the pile hugging them.
♦ He hates candy more than anything else. It's way too sweet and way too strange (a human tried to feed him with one of those strange things once, and it tasted terrible). He knows All Hallow's Eve is all about begging for sweets ... Yet he cannot seem to get himself to enjoy those peculiar creations of man. Bones are all he needs.
♦ Every now and then he doesn’t mind making fun of himself in order to make others laugh (yes, you heard it correctly; all his pranks aren’t just for the sake of he having all the fun. What’s the fun in a prank if you can’t share the laughter with someone else?). He wants everyone to be able to enjoy themselves, since life would be no fun otherwise.
♦ His favourite subjects to talk about are supernatural things or his bones – so if you don’t like that kind of stuff, stay away from Nilaihah (surely he can talk about just anything, but if he could he would speak about only those two subjects).

Deeper knowledge about Nilaihah
Darkest Secret ...
The first moment you experience something you never have before, can be terrifying. Nilai was but a newborn hatchling when he experienced his first paranormal phenomena. He had seen a shadow moving closer, heard weird noises and seen things move on their own in the barn at the O'Brien's farm. As he turned around to escape the peculiar things surrounding him; he found himself staring into the pale face with no eyes to be seen in gaping holes. The sight and the feeling around the being made him pee himself as he fled. He never spoke a word of what had happened that evening to anyone.
After that it took quite a few more experiences for him to be able to feel comfortable around paranormal activities and for his interest regarding the matter to grow immensely.

Most treasured memory ...
The first Yuletide that he celebrated with all of the O'Briens as well as Sahariel and Nagazdiel. He had not known Nagaz for long around then, none of them had; yet he felt like a part of the family already. It was warm and bright, cheerful and cozy. They played together underneath the Yuletree and gave each other presents. The first Yuletide they had together was very special, they had decided to only give each other hand made things. He gave each and everyone different bones that he had been nagging at, creating the things they liked the most. Sahariel got a spider, Nagaz a shipwreck, Nath'iel a ship and Missouri a clock (one that needs the sun though). He was so pleased with his creations when he saw the appreciation each and everyone felt over his gifts. It made him feel great at craftsmanship. And even better, it made everyone even happier to be together and the cottage got even warmer and cozier in a way.

Good habits
He might be confident and have no problem with seeing himself as "the greatest", though he's keen on seeing other's strengths just as well. Even when they might not see it themselves. Talents/skills/strenghts A talented prankster who quickly can come up with new pranks for those traveling through the forest. And he's good at sensing when someone's sad and needs to be cheered up. Hopes and dreams To be the greatest prankster and trickster of all time! And kind of to forever be young, Nilai doesn't feel like growing up ever. Best quality He's responsible when things go wrong and never tries to cover mistakes up within lies. He believe it's a new lesson learned on what to not do the next time. What he wants To never be bored and have as much fun as one can have in this life. Nilaihah sees himself as ... Curious, great, mastermind, a leader and prankster lord. Most valued possession His bones, no doubt. And a precious chest he got from Nagaz to have his absolute favourite bones within. Most proud accomplishment The greatest trick doesn't always have to contain a fright. Though it doesn't hurt either way. His plans for All Hallow's Eve has always contained some sort of fright for those in the forest. Though at some point throughout the year, he had decided to try something new. Instead of wanting the fright the children, he wanted to leave them in awe. The moon was full, the portal to the other side open. The spirits and demons alike were roaming the forest. He had asked them to help. The wisps and white shades were seen here and there while he landed on the trail. One wisp beside him, the others leading a trail into a meadow. When the children started to make their way through the forest, he sat there with large eyes watching them. They stopped. As he turned around and started following the wisps, so did they. One after one the wisps disappeared as they came closer to the meadow. Once they had arrived, he flew up in front of the full moon, turning towards the children below. They were watching the meadow, which glittered from the wisps who had touched the grass in such a way to make it glow. The white shades were in the shape of orbs around the meadow, glittering in the moonlight. It was a sight indeed. So thought the children too, who gasped and whispered how beautiful it was. Within his own mind he thought; "If you only knew it's we who usually frighten you on this very special night." He is motivated by ... The thrill of plotting new pranks and see how they evolve over time. |
Bad habits
Getting stuck in holes of bones and in between ribs that are too small for him to climb through, still he often tires to getting through them anyway. Weaknesses/clumsiness The lack of talent when it comes to allowing himself to be bored and to simply relax or do nothing. He's too deep in the belief that he always need to have something to do. Fears and nightmares Nilai fears the thought of growing up, as he wishes to stay young for all time. Yet at the same time he fears never experiencing what life would be like if he were grown. He's the most terrified that he will have to change in order to grow up. Neglecting what makes him his own person. Greatest flaw That he often will not simply accept someone's opinion, but often will end up asking why or how someone can believe such things. It will mostly come off as rude and harsh; even though he mean no ill bearing regarding it. He's simply trying to understand other's reasoning behind things even though it doesn't show to those around him. What he doesn't want To meet his parents that abandoned him. Secretly he's terrified of meeting them and learning why they left him to die - which he never tells anyone. Others see Nilaihah as ... Impulsive, joyful, curious, strait-forward and a prankster. Greatest failure Nilaihah have tried once to play a prank on Missouri. It was the first and only time. She has just returned from a trip together with Sahariel., and both were exhausted. He thought they seemed like they had too good a experience while they were away - thus he decided they needed to be reminded of a scare. Nagaz had helped him attach thin fishlines to bottles and books in the farmhouse, which he pulled in order to make them move. Sahariel got scared when the things started moving, Missouri simply watched it plainly. Thus his next step was simple, he had put some dirt on his wing and painted the dirt in red and some paint around it. Making it into a disgusting wound. He appeared and acted hurt, blaming the demons of the forest. At that point Missouri got scared. As she quickly decided to tend to the "wound" and started cleaning it, the paint and dirt washed away. He laughed and said; "Got you!" "Never ever do such a thing again Nilaihah!" was the reply he got as Missouri hurried away, a glimpse of a tear in her eye. Sahariel hurried after her, not impressed either with his prank. At that moment he realized how bad a prank it was to use such a hurt as a joke. It was indeed such a bad joke and never again he would use it in his pranks. |

Do you believe in ghosts?
Somewhere in the dark, strange sounds could be heard in the forests darkest corners. The children below on the pathway had all dressed up in strange clothing. They didn’t seem to be frightened at all, no, in fact, it seemed to be the other way around; they liked all those strange sounds.
Somewhere in the dark, a small creature mumbled to himself that they were not scared enough to be in his forest. This was supposed to be the darkest night out of all nights; the night of All Hallows Eve.
Somewhere in the dark, every little sound died out in the wind and nothing could be heard. Some of the children noticed it and watched uneasy out in the darkness surrounding them. He was pleased, they were uncomfortable now.
Somewhere in the dark, a small creature planned his next move of actions. Silently in his mind he decided to call upon the ghosts of the forest; in order to make those wearing strange clothing frightened.
Somewhere in the dark, he picked up some of his beloved bones and threw them towards the moon in the sky high above. As he did that he pictured the forest even darker than what it should be in his mind; after that a door of light which slowly opened on its own. When it was fully opened he turned his eyes and watched the children.
Somewhere in the dark, they all had gathered close together. She had seen something white move further away in the forest. Scared she grabbed hold on her two friends and forced them to look towards the place where she had seen the white shadow. When it appeared again one of them gasped for air and the other one tried to get loose in order to runaway.
Somewhere in the dark, he was standing all alone with his friends a bit further away. Something had taken hold of him and he stumbled backwards until he fell onto the ground.
Somewhere in the dark, all at once their bags, boxes and baskets with their well earned candy suddenly started to float in the air; as if something that they could not see took it from them. They watched frightened as their candy disappeared into the forest. Without thinking they all decided to run for their lives; some of them screamed while others simply ran.
Somewhere in the dark, the small creature enjoyed himself and was satisfied that the ghosts once again had listened to him. A small smile appeared in his face as he lost sight of the last child down on the pathway. He turned around towards the moon and thought:
“This is my ‘trick or treat' for you.”
