The Spirit Eater
“The first thing you need to know is the fact that there are three different worlds entwined within this world of ours. Yes, three.
First there’s the world where all living and breathing beings live their everyday life; your world. The world of the living whom cannot see and doesn't even know about the existence of the other two worlds.
Secondly there’s the world where you will end up after your death. The world of the spirits and demons. It coexists side by side within the world of the living and they can see the humans, know of their existence; but they cannot interfere with their life - unless they harbour the deepest desire you can imagine to interfere with the world of the living.
Thirdly there’s the world above all else, the Celestial Skies. Its inhabitants are the only ones who can interfere with the other two worlds and the spirits and demons may know of their existence if they have been around for a long period or time. Or if a spirit just happens to be overly curious and gather knowledge wherever they can find it. However they can choose to be unseen by all. They are what human beings may have referred to as “Gods” throughout the history of mankind. Sadly that is not the case, they are merely the guardians chosen by the Gods and creators of this universe to keep the balance between the three worlds.
That is the uttermost truth of our worlds and you, spirit watcher, is a part of it all until your bitter end.”

This is a project based on one of my nightmares from when I was a kid. Most of the characters (such as half of the main characters and the entire setup with the environment) actually scared the crap out of me. However, I had that dream again during late May 2012 and that time the dream was just a dream. Those whom originally had made me unable to sleep back in the days, wasn’t as scary as I remembered them to be. I loved being there and meeting them again after all these years. Thus I decided to write it down, that story and those persons I got to know.
That is what I have been doing ever since and this is one of the major project I’m actually only working with in English. The dream was in English, so why the heck should I change it? My dream is to someday be good enough to actually draw humans however I want to without failing with the anatomy and turn this into a manga series. Sadly I don’t know when or how long it will take before I can do this, but the day I do it I’m going to give it my all. So for now I’m merely working with the written parts for this story, trying to make the dialogues perfect and as something people would say to each other in real life.
The story as a whole takes place in three different worlds sometime during 2008-2010 (I’ve not yet been able to tell exactly which year it is, but the way the phones and computers looked screams that it was around that time) and during the late 1880s. As a whole the story circles around three lads of mine, Takumi Chikamatsu, Yuuki Minoru and Erik Layton.
Being able to see that which no one else can see isn’t always the easiest thing to deal with, Minoru is one of those who can see that which others cannot. A day that starts like everyone before it, he is dragged into worlds he at first never wished to be a part of. Trapped within questions about who he is and mysteries about those around him drags him deeper into the darkness of the unknown. And the shadow drawing closer to him makes it impossible to know if he will return alive to those he holds dear.
